This is the marvelous season whenever we get an opportunity to reflect on the entire year that is ending and arrange for the year ahead. I really like this time around of season. I think about what we should did right and what we should didn’t do this well. Today With all of the trouble in the world ,both economically and socially, enough time to be as self reliant as you possibly can has arrived. It astounds me just how many people out think everything is fine there.

Even our President has said that the economy does well. All the social people that think everything is fantastic are not attending to. Vice President Biden said that whenever a close friend or neighbor cannot find employment it is a recession, and when you are unable to find a job it’s a depression.

Using this definition we are all in a recession plus some are in a depressive disorder. The way we calculate the unemployment figures have not always been done the same way. Right now the state unemployment rate has ended 7%. This true amount will not include all of the people who have stopped looking for work.

Let me say that again -this number will not include those who have given up. Ok, so now that all of the bad stuff has gone out of the way, let’s reach the nice stuff. I am starting to get my gardening catalogs in the mail. It really is great to look and make lists of all things I wish to flower next spring. I only plant heirloom varieties.

This allows me to save lots of seed from new things every year. 12 months there are fewer things I must buy so I am saving cash each year Each. I also keep a garden log so I know what works and what doesn’t. Year I have made several goals for the arriving. I am going to be expanding my garden and setting aside sections of your garden for my children. They can raise anything they need and after the family gets what it requires using their crops they can sell all of their excess. This can help coach them a work ethic and a lot of financial lessons as well. Expand our compost pile.

It doesn’t matter if you would like to be like me and do the whole organic thing or you just want to reduce the amount of fertilizer you have to buy. Composting is a good practice. All dirt types benefit from compost. The very best part about compost is you are able to do it to any size. Just use the leftovers that you throw away. Do not use meat products in the compost mix.

Skill learning. This season I have a significant set of things I wish to learn. I am making a carving set( knife making). A friend will instruct my stepson and I how to make a bow. We are going to learn how to knit. A guy I met at the job is supposed to teach me how to make a wooden sail boat.
